Is “Eyes of the Prey” a good Light Cone option for the broke gang? Or is “Patience Is All You Need” mandatory?
Eyes of the Prey and Fermata both seem like great f2p options for her. Both options seem to be good enough for her, I don’t think her signature is must pull.
I think eyes of the prey would be more optimal if kafka isn’t the only one doing damage on your team, but if she is the main source of dmg then I would go with fermata
As mentioned before me Eyes of the Prey and Fermata are both good options. PERSONALLY, between the two I’d say the current BiS 4* is Fermata… Why? One, because it synergizes with her entire kit more, from the DoT increase to her passive talent. Two, they lowered the Effect Hit Resistance of higher level enemies, so it’s less taxing for us Nihility/DoT enjoyers. Kafka applies shock two ways- Technique and her Ultimate, both of which are (currently) 100% BASE chance to proc unlike someone like Sampo who has 65% Base chance to proc Wind Shear (so he wants the Effect hit rate) So I think if you get some Effect Hit rate in your substats you’ll probably be okay with Fermata.
Regarding Kafka’s signature LC “Patience Is All You Need”, it’s still early to say but I doubt it’s Jing Yuan’s LC levels of pull potential. I’ve personally read that they changed Kafka’s LC to focus around Break Damage/Efficiency with some speed increase and team DoT damage increase- basically it’s slightly different that the information listed on this website so everything is subject to change… Once we get more information I could revisit this but for now the previous mentioned LC’s are good enough or wait to buy Welt’s LC from the shop which would be good too.
TL;DR – EotP is good, Fermata is better. Too early to say on Kafka’s signature LC, best to wait but it’s probably not better than Welt’s LC that you can buy eventually.
No 5 star Light Cone is mandatory.
Except Before Dawn and In the Night, all the ones we’ve gotten so far (including Patience is All You Need and The Unreacheable Side) are either pretty bad or just a slight upgrade
I would say go for Fermata because its literally free to R5 and the damage boost is nice, its no Good Night and Sleep Well, but its a good boost
I have a couple of questions:
1) Fermata or Eyes of the Prey?
2) Will she be able to play normally in squads without Sampo and Luka, and if so, how effective will it be?
3) How viable would a squad with Hook and/or E6 Serval as Kafka team members be?
Your thoughts on this matter.
1. fermata for personal damage, eyes of the prey for boosted team wide damage
2. yes, she will. as long as a character can trigger DoT, kafka can be used with them
3. i don’t know much about hook, but if she applies burn it works. as for serval, i would say shes arguably kafka’s best teammate, especially at e6
How is Eyes of the Prey “boosted team wide damage”? I am aware that Kafka can proc all DoT damage on enemy but that doesn’t seem to make sense that the formula will suddenly factor in the extra DoT damage % from that LC as a team buff…
Take a look at verbiage of EotP: “Increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 20% and increases DoT by 24%.” what is the key word? *Wearer” meaning the person wearing the LC.
Take a look at Kafka’s signature LC, Patience Is All You Need: “Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 24%. After every attack initiated by the wearer, the wearer’s SPD increases by 4.8% up to 3 stack(s), with a 100% base chance of causing the attacked enemy to take 18% additional DoT DMG for 1 turn.” the last part about increased Dot damage and how it’s worded is different! “Causing the attacked enemy to take 18% additional DoT DMG meaning it’s a TEAM damage buff on dots for 1 turn.
Fermata I’d say is the clear winner for Kafka but EotP isn’t bad either.
1.) Fermata. Either is ultimately fine tho
2.) I don’t see why not. So long as she has multiple DoT sources to proc when she spams her Skill and Ultimate (E1 more so) she’ll be vibing. Otherwise, you can probably slap her with some Harmony characters like Tingyun and she’ll probably be okay too, just maybe not “optimal” since it’s clear that they designed her around the DoT mechanic.
3.) Pretty viable I’d say since they provide DoTs. The only “problem” is type coverage sometimes, unless you have Silver Wolf I guess.
Any news on whether her banner will have Luka or not?
We don’t know yet but given that Luka had some DOT and damage support in his leaked kit, hes probably gonna come with Kafka
I am using so many lightning characters already, and I’m going to get another one.
there will definitely be a Raiden variant for HSR, and she will definitely be lightning as well.
RIP stellar jade.
So it looks like her best team will be Kafka/Silver Wolf/Serval/Bailu
Agreed, And this team will super fun to apply lightning DoTs and let SW do her 75/25 chance to apply weakness which is fine because her defense shred from bugs and ult is good enough.
And some times Sampo
I think her best teamate is Ting yun (E6) and her weapon.
I’m not sure how her E6 work but her weapon boost dot damage by 100%… Seem kinna too broken.
By bad the weapon only boost some dot %, not by 100%
That’s completly missing the purpose of her kit, though ?
She boosts and triggers all DoT already applied on the enemy, aka she’s better off with a team of DoT-ers, and maybe of as many different elements as possible ?
Physical, fire , lightning, wind ; the other elements do not DoT (freeze ends with additional damage, not DoT).
DoT are applied upon break, or upon characters who have “xx% chance of applying DoT” : kafka, sampo, hook, serval (can shock stack, though ?) ; no physical DoT-er yet.
Alternatively, you can also apply burn when taking hits with a preservation character (specially with taunts like fire MC) equipped with the light cone “Trend of the Universal Market”
From what I could find online, it seems that shock *can* stack (in a sense), tho each stack needs to be from a different source, i.e. either Kafka’s or Serval’s technique can start the fight with shock on foes, then Serval’s skill can apply another, then Kafka’s Ult can apply a third, at which point Kafka’s skill would make all three trigger. Using the same source again would likely just refresh that particular stack.
This info in mind, that team does actually seem decent. Unfortunately, DoTs don’t deal damage to toughness gauges, but you would still be outputting lots of lightning damage, so having SW to apply that weakness to foes who aren’t already lightning-weak allow for consistent breaks, plus all her Def/Res shredding presumably affects the DoT damage too. Bailu is just a strong healer, but she’s also lightning, meaning SW is far more consistent at applying the lightning weakness because of how her skill works, plus Bailu can output a bit of extra toughness damage with her standard attack whenever her heals aren’t needed.
@Mystenigma
oooh, I finally get the purpose of SW, thank you. I didnt dwell much on her cauz young/meh design, and thought her kit was mediocre, but she’s actually a must for mono lightning teams. Pretty niche, but now I cant skip her like I intended to… and my credit card will have you to blame for that xD.
I like Bailu even less (as all and every loli), nor do I have her (yet), so ima pray for another lightning healer/shielder. Building SW will wait till then.
So yes, even with only 2 DoT-ers in that team, it does look like it’ll work wonders.
@Kredocsid
As I expected, thx for confirming. On the other hand, wind shear can stack up to 5 times (it’s in Sampo’s talent description).
As for Tingyun, I recommend the light cone “Planetary Rendezvous” : its description is ambiguous, but at S5 (easy cauz it’s a 4 stars cone), during fights you’ll see your whole party with +24% lightning damage in their stats (as long as she’s alive, of course)
Erratum : SW is quantum /facepalm
So no, i’ll only use her in a mono quantum team
And pray for a quantum healer/shielder
Every DoT stacks from different(!) sourse. Like Kafka’s Ult is one, if Kafka break enemy Toughness (Break) – 2, Serval’s Skill – 3 and Serval’s Break – 4, but second use of Serval’s Skill only re-apply her own DoT. That makes 4 different Shock DoTs, which great for E0 Kafka.
Silver Wolf could be great because DEF decrease and DMG-RES are increasing every sourse of damage including Break (well, Ik this for Break, not for DoT. But DoT benefifits from Elem-DMG, that makes me think so), which increases Kafka’s trigger DoT damage.
Bailu is awesome healer, just for team sustein. But you can bring Tingyun for boosting Attack, DMG, Energy and replace Bailu’s Break DoT, which would be 5th Shock
Great looks, garbage kit
And here, from this moment, doomposts begin from offended simps Jing Yuan, who realized how little time the general will be the strongest lightning dps – literally 2 patches.
This
based
Ngl im not a jingyuan simp or anything nor am i saying he wont get powercreeped but tbh kafka’s kit here actually looks… mid… af
skipped and will forever skip Jing Yuan, but I think he is decent with weapon. Looks bad without that sadly.
There will never be a bigger cap in this game’s career than this comment. She’s over tuned if anything already, and that’s accounting for her only DOT supports being 4*s right now. She can only get stronger.
What relics should you take?
the 4pc lightning set is her bis imo, and for the planar, honestly most set goes as long as it has good substats
What sort of main stats/sub stats should I be going for? Effect Hit rate seems like the right chest piece but I’d rather her do more dot damage since I reckon her EH is high enough at base, as well as going for some substats to give it a little nudge. She also seems to like Break Effect(?) so would a BE rope be ideal? And if so should I go for the BE planar set with speed boots? She’s just got so much going on it’s confusing me with the build direction. I want to use the next two BP artifact guarantees to get the rare specific pieces I need.
Ye by the looks of it, it seems that she can use multiple stats. If you do plan on getting her E2, where it increases break efficiency, then yes Break Effect set and combo would be 100% the right set for her. Personally I would just go with yes, the lightning set, or the actual Break Effect 4 piece, since it gives more break effect and energy back per break and lightning set cuz lightning dmg. For main stats, with Body, probably just ATK%, Boots, probably SPD, Orb, probably Lightning DMG, Rope, probably Break Effect.
Doing the maths… if you have literally all break effect with the boots and stuff… and dream rolls, it should end up around… nearly 300% Break Effect :D. And with her lightcone, even though it is not here, it looks like it increases break efficiency already.
https://i.redd.it/7w38k0pvd02b1.jpg [subject to change]
It’s actually Break Effect on the LC. They got it translated wrongly. You want Effect Hit Rate on Body if you want her DOTs to have a higher chance to hit on level 90 enemies with 50% Effect Resist. IMO you just need around 100% Break Effect for one of her traces and enough attack for her DOTs to do more damage.
kafka my queen <3
kafka mami、本当に好きだよ、このキャラーwww
based japanese
Tbh I’m pretty hyped, I hope she will do a great duet with Serval =D
since she can’t really place her own shock without using ult or breaking shield she definitely will be paired with serval and probably sampo too specially at E1 it sounds pretty broken
Please read her Technique
Techniques aren’t sustainable for all content, and also, it only lasts for 3 turns. While it’s not bad, she’ll still have the problem Cat mentioned in long battles.
