  1. In a Kafka and Luka team with a support, which will be better Serval E6 or Sampo E0? I currently have those but since I plan on rolling until luka is E6, what would be the eidolon where Sampo overtakes an E6 Serval (assuming E6 Serval>E0 Sampo)

    • Sampo has way bigger dot numbers by default and buffs everyone elses dot damage too, serval probably just cant compete in that team. the best part of her kit isnt her dot, its her damage on shocked enemies talent allowing her to be a very strong positive sub dps on a crit build.

    • Kafka E1 and Sampo Ult stacks, yes. Together it’s 60%-62% (if you have Eidolons on Sampo his 30% goes to 32%) and just incase you or anyone was wondering the E2 stacks on top of them both for 85%-87% DoT increase.

      • Aren’t Dmg Increase effects (buffs) separate from Dmg Amplification effects (debuffs)?

        Afaik Sampo’s Ult is similar to Welt’s A2 (Vulnerability) or SW’s 5* LC, in that the Dmg Taken is amplified after the stat formula. Her E1 is worded similarly so it should fall under Dmg Amp.

        Meanwhile her E2 increases DoT Dmg Dealt of allies which presumably works as a stat buff and should fall within the stat formula (added to Elemental Dmg).

        Now yes, they all ”stack” in the ”works with each other” sense, but I think it’s inaccurate to call it an ”85-87% DoT Increase”. Amplification effects are far more impactful because of how they’re computed.

        • Nooooo lol. Welt’s A2 Vulnerability is NOT the same as Sampo Ult. They are completely different. Sampo’s Ult is for DoT only, while Welt’s A2 is for all damage increase (this also works on DoT btw) But the DoT specific damage increase is calculated on the tail end of calculations so it’s generally a “true multiplier” for DoT damage! the 85-87 increase would be accurate and far more impactful for DoT damage I assure you lol… Both Sampo’s Ult and Kafka’s E1 (+E2 for that matter) *specifically* state increased damage of DoT. There is a huge difference to Vulnerability- there are leak footage that even show she applies the same symbol on her DoT damage increase (E1) that’s exactly like Sampo’s. Hope that helps!

          • I should’ve worded it better but that’s what I was referring to in that “Amplification” effects literally multiply the damage dealt after the formula — meaning Sampo’s Ult is functionally similar to Welt’s A2 debuff except it’s DoT-only (which should already be implied). I’m saying that Kafka’s E1 is also similar to Sampo’s Ult in that regard, out of wording alone, even without the leaks. Hoyo’s semantics to differentiate Dmg Inc from Dmg Amp has been clear for those who pay close attention.

            The point I was making is that her E2 is likely treated in a similar manner as stat buffs (Dmg Inc, Elemental Dmg Inc, and so on) as the effect is applied to the characters (notice the difference in Dmg Amp being debuffs, and Dmg Inc as stat/stat-like buffs). This puts it in the same category as Fermata or EotP.

            And *that’s* why I’m saying it’s not accurate to just lump them together as an 85-87% DoT Dmg Inc. If we have to be technical about it, that’s DoT Dmg Inc +25%, and DoT Dmg Amp +60-62%. Now admittedly, me saying Dmg Amp is “far more” impactful than Dmg Inc might be exaggerated, but that does not change the fact that Dmg Inc effects, as they’re within the formula, have their effectiveness ever so slightly reduced — as opposed to Dmg Amp effects, which is pretty much a raw multiplier.

            I’ll have you know, mister “DoT_King”, that I run my own tests and sheets, and can confirm these interactions with Sampo using either Fermata or EotP (which grants DoT Dmg Inc) and his Ult debuff (which is DoT Dmg Amp). 🙂

            As a tl;dr
            DoT Dmg Increase = falls within formula (similar to stat increases)
            DoT Dmg Amplifications = falls outside the formula (raw multiplier)
            and so… Kafka E1 is DoT Dmg Amp, and Kafka E2 is DoT Dmg Inc.

            The wording is consistent with existing effects. Examples are Eyes of the Prey LC for DoT Dmg Inc, and Sampo’s Ult for Dot Dmg Amp.

    • Best advise is to wait for her to come out, watch an E0 Kafka carry showcase and compare it with an E6 Serval showcase on similar ennemy types. I’m sure those will be compared by content creators.

      Kafka’s motion values are higher than Serval’s but she will not Ult as often, and Serval’s E6 gives her a straight +30% dmg increase.

    I do not take into account Jing Yuan and Kafka DoT-team, since they are both in all likelihood much stronger than carry Kafka or carry Serval.

    • In it’s current state her LC is nice, especially if you aren’t really investing in a DoT comp but slightly less so from the previous version (it provided team wide DoT damage increase) So really my question is what team are you planning to build with Kafka?

      Right now you sorta have two camps. Ones that are building her DoT focused (Sampo, Luka and to a slightly lesser extent Serval) and the others that want Kafka to be the main DPS and building a team around buffing her like in a standard team (JingYuan, Tingyun, Pela/Silver Wolf and Healer/shield for example) If you are building DoT, as someone mentioned before I think it’s better to go for eidolons but if you are set on main DPS Kafka then it’s probably better to invest in the LC if you are planning to pull after E0. There are 2 reasons why I say this:

      The first (and the biggest imo) is the banners… Supposedly Kafka banner will have Sampo, Luka and Serval which is a wet dream for us DoT enjoyers. Seriously, if you are about that DoT Life (like myself) you probably won’t see a banner like this until her rerun or Black Swan. It’s just too good to pass up, you’ll work toward not only Eidolons for Kafka but for her (most likely) best team comps! Sampo’s E4 is a big spike but pretty much all of them are solid. Luka’s powerspike is huge (bigger than Sampo) at E6 but it’s E6, lol. He still have good Eidolons leading up to E6 tho – E1 being one of the better ones you can get and it’s early too! Serval, if you plan on running her really becomes amazing at E2 where she can ult SO much more often to keep shock DoTs (mainly for Break Effect Shock) up forever. So yeah there is almost no value to be had if you aren’t planning on running them as opposed to her LC banner in which we will *probably* have “Eyes of the Prey”, “Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat” and “Make the World Clamor” and I think that’s not half bad and will give you some value (especially the “Resolution…” LC)

      The second (smaller) reason is unless they change things, the stats and damage from “Patience is all you Need” looks to be competitive with E1 if not outright better if you aren’t running her in DoT comp. I’ll need to test this on the character calculator to make sure but the new LC buff hasn’t been updated yet on said calculator.

        • E2 is way better for DoT teams. Since her kit seems to lean towards being the big reward for DoT setups. BUUUT, as DoT_king said LC is slightly better than her E1 for most team comps. If you’re not sure that you can get her E2, her LC has a slightly better value.
          That being said, Hoyo seems to be adding a good amount of LCs for DoT builds. Nihility’s LCs in general has good value for Kafka, and the Preservation’s LC “Trend of Universal Market” is also a good addition for any tanker to help applying more DoTs.

          on the long run you will have a better reason to use her when you have other units

          there will always be more classical dps down the road that will interest you, if you generalize your kafka build you might replace her on the future

        • Short answer: As it stands right now, DoT teams, no question… Hypercarry probably is fine but you’d be doing roughly 30% lower damage as a whole (teamwide damage) I’ve tested this myself using a character calculator (found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail_leaks/comments/145u50y/honkai_star_rail_damage_sheet_dmg_calculator_for/)

          Longer answer: I’m sure you asked this question earnestly but I can’t help but scratch my head whenever I see this question asked… Kafka’s kit very clearly points her to playing alongside DoT units. Looking at her scalings point that as they are kinda (unironically) mid but her DoT generally makes up for it which she can proc (along with every dot) every skill and ultimate activation. DoT *cannot* crit though, which is a key factor in big hypercarry damage. So building crit effects Skill damage (160%), Follow-up damage (140%) and a weak Ultimate damage hit (80%- this is the first hit before DoT damage, basically a lvl 4 basic attack) Hypercarry abilities should be scaling with 200%+ to make it worth it unless they have a gimmick. Kafka’s gimmick (Detonating DoT damage) in a hypercarry team would be partly ignored in favor for a stat she doesn’t particularly scale great with along with teammates that, while helpful, doesn’t push her to do better at what she was intentionally designed for. In my findings and comparing them with other Theory Crafters you will want at least 1 other DoT-focused character if you want the get more out of Kafka.

          • I think people just have very low expectations that the ideas that MHY puts into the characters correspond to how he will work in reality.

            Like… look at the Kokomi set: Hydro DMG bonus when you level up, a bonus for damage inflicted from the hand, Q, which involves on-field damage, like Xiao, Tao and others, sign weapon aimed at increasing personal damage.
            90% of her kit is garbage that players simply ignore because it doesn’t work using only a couple of aspects like extending the duration of heal from Q and Hydro-status.

            And I’m not mentioning Dehya… (btw, HoYo removed Fu Xuan’s magnificent set of abilities and gave her the Dehya-nerf kit. I hope they will return Fu Xuan the original kit).

            In general, HoYo has an extremely bad reputation in terms of understanding how their own characters work, so people are suspicious and consider absolutely everything, even the strangest use cases of their favorite characters.

          • what would be better for general content? Kafka, Sampo, 1 other DoT- character and a healer. Or Kafka, Sampo, Trailblazer with Trend of universal market LC, and a healer.

    • maybe LC by short margin over e1.
      LC gives 24% to her own Dot plus other attacks, then more base hp, atk, and def. There is also another 60% lightning dot

      E1 MAY give 30% not only to her own Dot and to everyone’s Dot as well. But you don’t get boost on her other damage sources, plus you would have generally lower hp, atk and def stats (if you are using 4star LC), and you wont have the additional 60% lightning DoT.

      But her E2 might change that. another 25% which gives to a total of 55% Dots for the entire team changes that.

    • don’t compare one lc with one eidolon or even two eidolons that might work in genshin but not here. lc are way easier to get since 1. lower pity 2. 75% chance to get what you want and after getting the wrong lc you are also guaranteed to get the lc you want. so get her lc there is not much to think about.
