  1. So Firefly/Sam and Jade have been drip marketed and are confirmed to come with the 2.3 patch.

Firefly/Sam has a Kamen Rider theme. She transforms into Sam when she casts the ultimate and she gains a speed boost and has access to enhanced skill. Her untransformation timer is just like Robin’s, if you slayed everything in the first wave before her untransformation then the timer is reset at the begining of the next wave. Should be a superb unit for zero cycling MoC. Gameplay wise, her enhanced skill does ultimate damage instead of skill damage, but casting the skill itself does not count as casing an ultimate, and she makes use of break effect but unlike Boothill, her damage output leans more towards immediate crit-able damage, and instead her major traces, signature light cone and her custom-made relic set rewards def pen depending on the break effect, leading to her having a high def pen in nature. However she lacks other kind of modifiers on her own, meaning a high synergy with Ruan Mei. She has the ability to implant Fire weakness so you need not worry about her losing damage when toughness breaking is not feasile.

Jade is an AoE follow-up attacker who relies on a secondary DPS in her team to trigger her damage. She signs a contract with a teammate, which costs the latter a small portion of their HP, and whenever the latter launches an attack, Jade does additional damage to each enemy that was hit during the attack and also gains some stacks for the FUA in her talent. The additional damage is resolved based on Jade’s statistics and if it was the killing blow, it counts as Jade’s kill, so she solely takes the energy gain and also Seele’s talent does not trigger in such situation. Her best teammate would be Herta, who does the most frequent AoE attack in the game and greatly bumps Jade’s damage output. Other Erudition characters are suboptimal for the purpose, especially Jing Yuan, who does high damage at low frequency.

These are based on the early leaks and rumors of the kits of the aforementioned characters and are subjects to be disproven or considered outdated.

I’m planning to pull for Firefly/Sam E0S1 at least and skip Aventurine, Robin, Boothill, and Jade, just to make sure I can get her in the mathematically unluckest scenario without the risk of spending.

    • Thanks for the writeup of what we know about their kits so far!

High def pen on Firefly from kit, LC, and relics will be quite interesting. Should boost break damage pretty well, but we’ll have to see how much it all adds up to. If all 3 do end up in the final kit with defense shred, FF could easily overstack on it if paired with SW or Pela, all it would take is for the 3 to add up to ~50%, and that could be easily done with 10% (trace) + 20% (LC) + 20% (similar to quantum set). it might not matter too much, depending on how important the break damage ends up being, since if it’s low then she may prefer to have another support than more def shred.

Jade’s early kit, to me, seems very weird. Her FUA is more damage for all the enemies hit by her linked ally’s attack? So she seems to work poorly with our recent FUA units such as Topaz and Ratio, and seems more like a secondary DPS in AoE/PF than anything else to me. Definitely missing some details on her kit, so we’ll see what we see in a few weeks.

      • Going by the story events. Well she does look a bit bang up, after we see her next in the form we first originally saw her. So it possible it might be ultra series rather than rider. Which would fall in line with Ultras taking damage and it being seen on their human forms or human host when they are beaten or end their transformation.

        • Well Kaman rider is more popular in the west. than ultra. Which is why some would think of it. Of course surprise no one when power rangers. given that could also fit. if we are talking about posing and transformation devices. given the trope is rather and could fall under many different things. It really all depends on the media one watches more of.

      • In my perspective:

Gigantized & transhumanized transformation is Ultra.

Transforming by merely exposing the true nature of a non-human creature is a traditional Kamen Rider.

Transforming by summoning an armor, hiding the nature of a human, is a contemporary Kamen Rider.

Transforming by merely dressing up is a puella magi.

No matter who invented the concept of transformation, these make some difference against each other and Firefly/Sam fits more to the contemporary Kamen Rider pattern.

      • Seen some just list oh she shares common story elements with Kamen. While others have pointed out her sword, looks like the knight brace or how Ultraman Max and Mebius summon up their sword. Which given the splash art of Sam has a sword. well there is some merit to that. Which yeah it might be a influence from both.

      • Well depends on the Ultra. Since some do fuse with a human host. Which have been shown using the physical body of the human. While others can take human forms. With some being heavily influence or even saved by humanity. Which there has even been ultras who have transform with armor before.

which well there is some hints it might be a wink and nod to the ultra series. given the pose and sword. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn_9jVz3yqI

      • Going by the april fools joke they did. the devs are clearly aware of power rangers and the ultra series. so there is some reason to think it might be that. of course it could also be nothing and people are just seeing things where there is nothing. Given transformations are old as dirt.

For transforming, turning into a monster, yeah that been done outside of all the series people have listed. Using armor to hide a person and what they look like during a transformation. also been done. for these tropes are old as dirt.

Which as someone else said. Yeah these tropes are old as dirt. of course there will be some cross over between it. from media to media. I’m sure if someone digs around enough. they can find something outside of power ranger, rider and ultra series that has done these things and most likely way before them as well.

Since otherwise, it going to be the most popular series that takes the lead. in what most people might think.

    • Thanks for the explanation.

I’m wondering how well Firefly will work in a team of Jing Liu, Blade and Luocha as a triple destruction team that sacrifices HP for massive damage with Luocha on the side for auto healing. Too bad I didn’t pull for Luocha in the previous phase -_-‘

Initially I wanted to pull for Jade in order to create the IPC Idol protection squad with Topaz, Aventurine and Robin, but looking a her kit, Jade doesn’t seem to work well with a FUA team despite having a FUA in her kit. Seems to be an addition to the mono quantum lineup of Seele, Sparkle, Jade and Fu Xuan.

      • Firefly/Sam is a high-speed SP consumer. The team simply won’t work due to the negative SP economy. She’s better placed in a mono carry team.

Jade in mono quantum doesn’t work, too. She has bad synergy with Seele because she steal the kills leading to Seele’s talent not triggering.

If Jade’s additional damage is dealt once only per attack just like Ting Yun and Robin’s then she should be good in the FUA team.

        • My interpretation is that they’re trying to let all the new break-oriented DPS characters like Boothill/FF implant their weaknesses, since you can’t do break damage without the weakness present. They don’t get the resistance removed, so SW still does get value from that. And especially for break damage, that resistance is important for the overall damage.

          • Yeah that a good point. Since Silver Wolf is not just weakness implant. they help to debuff resistance, along with every attack they make debuffing the foe in some way. that and defense shred, which last I look it up. defense shred can stack, up to 100%. Which, well. If someone is playing break effect Silver Wolf. having fire implant might benefit her. At least in terms of breaking. For she can then implant her own element onto the foe, if it doesn’t already exist. Making it easier to break the foe.

        • Ehh she’ll be fine. With apocalyptic shadow, presumably a single target based content, SW will surely see a resurgence.

oh and, fairly invaluable if ur trying to use an off element DPS

Her ascension material is presumably the same as Gallagher and her trace material is presumably the same as Sparkle. However you should wait for the beta because it’s just an assumption.

Usually it’s the initial kit around the start of the 1st banner, followed by a few weeks of them changing numbers, swapping/changing Eidolons, etc., which then ends around the 2nd banner in a version or so as the kit is finalized for reveal.

If you dont want that team, you can pull for argenti, cause jing yuan and acheron are not havien rerun soon. However, try always to use the characters u like, and rememeber that a new rupture effect metagame is coming with armony trailblazer and boothill. 5. Can anyone explain what the “Super Break DMG” means?

    • It is probably the same mechanic as how HTB’s ult worked before, but they gave it a name since it has a different formula than the standard break effect formula.

It basically removes the elemental multiplier from the break effect formula entirely, and replaces the toughness bar term with a simple multiplier based on the amount of toughness damage done by that attack.
So instead of (0.5 + Enemy Toughness Bar/120), it would be (Toughness damage done/30)

  6. V3 major changes in short:

    Robin:
E1 no longer speed up teams nor self damage multiplier, instead, buff team with res pen which was at E6 in v2.
Team res pen from E6 was moved to E1, E6’s damage multiplier was buffed.
Trace that give herself some healing was replaced by using skill + 5 energy.

    Boothill:
Technique and Skill would directly apply Physical Weakness instead of having a chance.
Weakness from Technique was extended 1 turn to 2 turn.

Technically move the Pocket Trickshot from Talent to Skill.
    >After this target is defeated or becomes Weakness Broken, Boothill obtains 1 stack of Pocket Trickshot, then dispels Standoff.
In v2, Weakness Broken won’t dispels Standoff.

It seems that Pocket Trickshot gives him more damage buff than v2.
E2 adds “This effect will be triggered up to 1 time”. Not sure if this is limit for future combo.
    E6 get slightly buffed.

    HTB:

Additional break damage from Ultimate was considered as a new “Super Break DMG”. Not sure if the dmg formula was changed or not.
    Trace 1 get slightly nerfed.
E4 that increase team’s break effect was changed from “15% HTB’s Break Effect + 30%” to “15% HTB’s Break Effect”. The 30% was moved to Ultimate’s buff.
